The Property

Our house and guest cottage sit on a 15 acre site on the North Shore of Kaua'i. We are located on a bluff 270 feet above the ocean with a distant view overlooking Kalihiwai Bay, the Pacific Ocean, the Kilauea Lighthouse and the National Wildlife Service bird sanctuary.

We call our house "Hale Ka Makani'Ala", which is Hawaiian for "House of the Fragrant Breeze". Gentle tradewinds flow up the valley, keeping the temperatures and humidity at very comfortable levels. The breeze is very refreshing and often brings the scent of the tropical flowers nearby.

The main house is surrounded by palms, Royal Poinciana trees, and many other tropical plants that give you a feeling of serenity. A few steps away, down the meandering path, lined with fragrant tropical flowers, you will find the cottage, nestled in a lush and secluded jungle-like setting.
